Vocal Dimension bitten by the bug in Bournemouth!
Vocal Dimension Chorus is certainly “Having Fun Making Music Together”. In fact, we have been bitten by the performance bug!
On a beautiful day in early July, the chorus competed in the Bournemouth Music Festival, a prestigious British festival featuring a class for barbershop groups.

It seemed the perfect setting for Vocal Dimension’s debut competition.
Following our 10 minutes on stage, we were absolutely delighted when it was announced that we had placed 3rd in the competition – the judge gave us glowing feedback and, most importantly, our 11 members had a blast!
See the photos here. Here is what a few of our members had to say about their experience:
Sitting
in the auditorium sporting our blue sparkly scarves, feeling
very much part of something special, the nerves started to
settle. Having the opportunity to sit back and watch the
other choruses compete was a real eye opener for me. Being
new to this genre, it was nice to hear the others and be
able to watch their presentation. By the time we got on
stage any remaining nerves were overpowered by adrenalin! I
loved every minute of the performance. The two songs were
over in a flash but it really was a total joy to stand proud
beside my new friends and make some fabulous music together!
Having
only been with Vocal Dimension since the end of March it was
very rewarding to compete successfully against other larger
and more established Choruses. I have a sneaky suspicion
that this is only just the beginning!

I
have some previous performance experience whilst
studying at The BRIT School as well as various
amateur dramatics groups, and even a season on the
Entertainments team at a holiday camp, but it has
been at least 16 years since I have set foot on a
stage or sung anywhere other than behind closed
doors. I thoroughly enjoyed my first on-stage
experience with Vocal Dimension and can’t wait for
the next! |
Not
having a great deal of confidence and it being my first
on-stage experience, I was amazed how good it felt being up
there amongst a talented group of friendly and enthusiastic
girls. We were all so well rehearsed by
Valerie, our Director - I was
determined not to let anyone down. I really enjoyed
performing in a not too formal but still competitive
atmosphere and afterwards, I felt so much part of the group
and thrilled to have played a part in gaining a brilliant
result. Bring on the next competition – it’s such fun!
