Our wonderful hobby takes us on many adventures, and we love it! February 2024, we spent a weekend in Eastbourne at our first ever VDC retreat. We were lucky enough to be joined and coached by the very talented and extremely lovely Sandra Lee Riley.

Is it even Christmas without a Vocal Dimension Christmas Concert? We are thrilled to invite you all to an evening of festive tunes and carols sung by the current International Silver medallists Vocal Dimension Chorus. This year we will be hosting the concert at a different venue - St Mary's Church in Reigate.

We had a wonderful time at the Region 31 Sweet Adelines Convention which was held in the impressive Warwick Arts Centre. It was also a real treat to sing a couple of our favourite songs in the Saturday evening show. The whole weekend was full of wonderful live music, catching up and spending time with friends plus lots of celebration!

It feels like an aeon since we've had a chance to dust off our thinking caps and flex our intellect! So this is a little 'save the date' notification for you all to pencil Saturday 25th February in your diary, spread the word and start rallying your teams 'cause the VDC Quiz Night is back!

We always have a great time at Christmas with so many fun sing outs at such great places. Our Christmas Together concert was a very chilly, icy evening but we had such a fabulously festive time. We were able to spread some festive cheer  lovely staff & residents at Ridgegate Home. We also sang at the Home Cottage pub in Redhill, so welcoming with it's pretty, twinkly Christmas tree and warm open fire. We ended the year singing on top of the O2 not once but twice! After an epic 707 days, we are finally back on our Risers. We have been so lucky to have continued singing during the past 2 years whether virtually, outside in the elements or socially distanced in church pews. But there really is nothing like singing on our risers.

After 2 years we have finally been able to take part in a handful of live performances, which has been an absolute joy! Our first event being at the Ideal Home Christmas Show.

It’s been a long road but we are absolutely delighted to be back rehearing in St John’s Church, Redhill. Sensible precautions are still being observed but the joy of being able to sing indoors has really lifted our spirits. We are now busy working on new music and relishing the sound and soaring harmonies.

After 10 weeks rehearsing outside, in all weathers, we are finally meeting inside! We are very fortunate to have a large, airy, Covid-safe venue and also some previous experience of safely rehearsing inside.

Our festive celebrations started this year with a Christmas Concert Facebook Live-stream direct from our glorious rehearsal venue St. John's church.

This year for Make Music Day on 21st June we shared our version of ‘Hold On’ which was recorded live at rehearsal. We may be outside but we are together, making music and  having fun doing it, which is certainly something to celebrate! #makemusicday2021. Listen here

As restrictions have started to be lifted, we have taken the opportunity to move our weekly rehearsals from zoom to the outside world! We have been able to meet in the grounds of the church and spend a couple of hours, each week, singing together. See more here.

At this year’s virtual regional convention, we were delighted to nominate Claire Miskin as our Unsung Champion. Claire serves as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator on the Management Team, and this is the main reason for her nomination.

Every year we are lucky to get the chance to share our Christmas music and spread festive cheer all the way through December, to lots of different audiences. On a Tuesday evening in December we were able to broadcast our mini Christmas Concert live on Facebook from St. John's Church, for anyone and everyone to enjoy! Watch here

We are on the move!! After a little over 9 and a half years rehearsing at the Warwick School, Redhill we are moving on to pastures new. We’re only moving about a mile up the road to the beautiful St Johns Church, Redhill. RH1 6QA

In light of the ever developing Covid-19 situation it is, with a heavy heart, that we have made the very difficult decision to postpone our 10th Anniversary concert until later in the year. We will arrange for refunds to be actioned ASAP.

Another convention and another really fantastic weekend! We had a super time on stage and are incredibly proud of our TWO medals! We achieved our highest score ever at 613 and came away with a 2nd place mid-sized Chorus medal and our 4th place overall medal. Find out more here

The Sweet Adelines International Education Symposium was held in the UK. Twenty one VDC members were lucky enough to be able to make the trip to Manchester and immerse themselves in 4 days of outstanding education.

We would like to wish Kay Griggs-Wright a fond farewell as she moves on to pastures new. Kay has been a barbershop singer for around 35 years and VDC has been her home for a little over 9 of those years.

What better way to follow on from a weekend of exciting education & coaching at IES 2019 than more education & coaching at rehearsal!! We are very grateful that the lovely Judy Pozsgay made a small detour, on her way home, to sprinkle some of her magic! See the fun here

Ben and Hannah's wedding

We are proud to be participating in the the BRBAC (Reigate and Banstead Arts Council) Take Part Festival in 2018. The festival is designed to share and promote the amazing talents and opportunities involved in the arts across the whole of the borough. Find out more here

We held an open evening for potential new members recently. If you are interested in joining, or you know someone who would love to sing in four-part harmony with our award-winning group, then come along any Tuesday evening to our rehearsals.

We were very excited to have the opportunity to sing in the Saturday afternoon Showcase at the London A Cappella Festival. We had a fabulous time and would like to say a big thank you to the many people who came up afterwards and gave us lovely feedback. See the A Cappella fun here

Manorfield Primary School in Horley very kindly allows us to use the school premises for special rehearsals or coaching sessions. We were delighted to be asked to visit an Assembly to teach the youngsters to sing in four part harmony – and to have some fun! See it all here

Nova quartet competed recently at #LABBS18 Quartet Contests Prelims in Birmingham. We are delighted to report that they qualified for the finals in Harrogate on Friday 26th October. Pictures here

We had an exciting day performing at London’s Ideal Home Show. Our two 45 minute sets gave us the opportunity to share most of our full repertoire with the audience – and with the many passers-by who stopped to enjoy the show. See the whole day here

Gherkin Challenge 2017

We had an exceptionally fun day, once again, supporting the NSPCC's Gherkin Challenge, singing to congratulate each group of fundraisers after they'd climbed to the top of the iconic London City building. See the view here!

Birthday celebrations with the Include Choir

We are absolutely delighted to return from the Sweet Adelines International Competition in Las Vegas with a silver medal! We loved every minute on stage at the MGM Grand and had such a great reaction from the audience, including a standing ovation at the end!

On a beautiful day in early July, the chorus competed in the Bournemouth Music Festival, a prestigious British festival featuring a class for barbershop groups. We were absolutely delighted when it was announced that we had placed 3rd in the competition. Read more here.
